🛠️ What do you need?

1. Saltwater system (salt chlorinator)

A compact system specifically suitable for spas or small pools. Suitable models:

Ensure the device is resistant to the higher temperatures of a spa (up to 40°C) and does not require too high a flow rate.

2. Pool salt

Use pure sodium chloride (99% NaCl) without iodine or anti-caking agents. This is available at pool stores or online.

• How much? For a spa of ± 930 liters (such as the Oslo), you need approx. 2.5–3 kg of salt.

3. Test strips or digital tester

To regularly test the water for:

• Free chlorine (1–3 ppm)

• pH (between 7.2–7.6)

For connecting the salt chlorinator, preferably with a residual-current device (RCD).

5. (Optional) Zinc anode

Prevents corrosion on metal parts, certainly useful if you have metal fittings or heating elements.

To regulate the pH value of the water.

Clean the spa and fill it with fresh water. Ensure that all old chemicals (such as chlorine tablets) have been flushed out.

• Add the salt evenly to the water.

• Turn on the circulation system to let it dissolve properly (approx. 24 hours).

✅ Step 3: Install the saltwater system

• Connect the chlorinator to the spa (stand-alone or via bypass depending on the type).

• Ensure a safe outdoor power supply (grounded + splash-proof).

✅ Step 4: Configure the chlorinator

• Program the runtime (e.g., 2–4 hours per day, depending on usage).

• Check the chlorine level after a few days and adjust the settings if necessary.

✅ Step 5: Test regularly

• Measure the salt content, chlorine level, and pH weekly.

• Add salt if you refill or refresh your water.

• Not all manufacturers (such as MSpa) provide warranty when using salt systems – please check this beforehand.

• Do not add flocculants or chlorine granules alongside the saltwater system.

• Do not use aromatherapy products containing oil, as these can foul the electrodes.
