The skimmer is part of the pool filtration equipment and ensures that anything that falls into the pool, such as leaves or insects, does not end up on the bottom of the pool. The first large particles are collected thanks to the pre-filter in the skimmer basket and the finer particles are collected in the filter (cartridge or sand).
