The Poolex Spawer O'Spa Spa Heat Pump 5 kW + Cooling Function has been specially developed for the efficient heating and cooling of spas, hot tubs, and Scandinavian baths. Thanks to the higher output of the 5 kW version, this heat pump is particularly attractive for larger spas or when you want more heating reserve and faster warming than with the 3 kW model.
Instead of heating the water solely with a traditional electric spa heater, the O'Spa draws a large portion of its energy from the outside air. As a result, energy consumption for heating can be up to 75% lower than with conventional electric heating.
And the O'Spa can do more than just heat. Thanks to the integrated cooling function, the unit can remove heat from the spa water. This allows you to use your spa as a cooling bath during hot summer days.
Powerful 5 kW version
With a maximum heating capacity of approximately 5.06 kW, this version has significantly more power than the 3 kW model.
Under favorable conditions, the heat pump can deliver approximately the following performance:
Heating capacity: 5.06 kW
Power consumption: approx. 0.95 kW
COP: Up to approx. 5.30
A COP of 5.30 means that under these test conditions, the heat pump can deliver approximately 5.3 kW of heat for every 1 kW of electrical energy consumed.
This makes the O'Spa particularly attractive for long-term use where the spa is kept at temperature regularly or continuously.
Save up to 75% on energy
A traditional electric heater generates heat directly from electricity. A heat pump works differently and draws a large part of the required energy from the outside air.
According to the manufacturer, this allows the Poolex O'Spa to save up to 75% energy compared to conventional electric heating.
The actual savings depend on various circumstances, including outside temperature, desired water temperature, insulation of the spa, duration of use, and the use of a well-insulating spa cover.
Specially developed for high spa temperatures
For a swimming pool heat pump, the desired water temperature is often around 26 to 30°C. For a spa, a temperature of 36 to 40°C is regularly requested.
The O'Spa has been specifically developed for this application.
Under conditions of approximately 15°C outside air and 38°C spa water, the 5 kW version still delivers approximately:
Heating capacity: 3.25 kW
Power consumption: 1.08 kW
COP: Approx. 3.0
This also shows why the performance of a heat pump is always dependent on the conditions. With warmer outside air, the heat pump does not have to work as hard as when it is cold outside and the spa water is already close to 40°C.
Heating up to 40°C
The Poolex O'Spa can heat spa water up to a maximum of 40°C.
This makes it suitable for the temperatures used in a traditional spa or hot tub.
For the best efficiency, it is wise to cover the spa well when it is not in use. A great deal of heat can be lost through an open water surface.
A high-quality thermal spa cover can therefore have a major impact on total energy consumption.
Integrated cooling function
During hot summer days, a spa can become too warm. That is why the O'Spa features a true chiller function.
The heat pump can reverse its operation and actively extract heat from the spa water.
Depending on the conditions, the 5 kW version delivers approximately:
Cooling capacity at air 35°C / water 27°C: Approx. 2.75 kW
Cooling capacity at air 15°C / water 5°C: Approx. 2.00 kW
This allows you to use the same spa for different purposes in different seasons.
Using the spa as a cold plunge pool
Thanks to the cooling function, the O'Spa is also attractive if you want to use a spa or hot tub as a cold plunge pool.
Instead of relying solely on the natural water temperature, the heat pump can actively cool the water down.
The final achievable water temperature depends on factors including outside temperature, insulation, water volume, solar heat gain, and the settings of the installation.
Heating, cooling, and automatic control
The Poolex O'Spa features multiple operating modes.
You can choose heating when you want comfortably warm spa water and cooling when you want to make the water colder.
In addition, an automatic control is available that allows the system to regulate the water temperature around the set value.
This gives you much more control over the temperature of your spa throughout the different seasons.
WiFi control
The Poolex O'Spa is equipped with WiFi functionality.
This allows you to manage the heat pump remotely via a compatible app.
This is especially convenient when the spa is not located right next to the house. You can manage settings without having to walk to the heat pump every time.
This makes it easier to bring the spa to the desired temperature in advance or to adjust the settings.
Titanium heat exchanger
The O'Spa is equipped with a titanium heat exchanger.
Titanium is excellently suited for swimming pool and spa water due to its high corrosion resistance.
The heat exchanger ensures that heat from the refrigerant is efficiently transferred to the spa water without the refrigerant coming into direct contact with the water.
R32 refrigerant
The Poolex O'Spa 5 kW uses R32 refrigerant.
This refrigerant is contained in a closed refrigeration circuit.
Work on the refrigerant circuit may only be performed by authorized personnel.
Compact design for placement by the spa
Despite its heating capacity, the O'Spa is relatively compact.
This makes it easy to place with many spa and hot tub installations without requiring a large technical room.
However, it is important that the heat pump can draw in enough free air and discharge the cooled air without obstruction.
Therefore, do not place the heat pump in a completely enclosed cabinet or technical room without sufficient ventilation.
32/38 mm water connections
The O'Spa uses compact 32/38 mm hydraulic connections.
This allows the heat pump to be easily incorporated into many spa installations.
For example, if your spa has a 50 mm PVC circuit, suitable adapters can be used to make the necessary connection.
When installing, ensure sufficient water flow and limit unnecessarily long pipes and excessive numbers of bends.
Required water flow rate
For proper heat transfer, the 5 kW O'Spa requires a water flow rate of approximately 2.15 m³ per hour.
Sufficient water circulation is important for the proper functioning of the heat exchanger.
If the flow rate is too low, the heat pump may function less effectively or trigger a safety mechanism.
Can work with existing spa heating
An interesting feature of the O'Spa is that it can be integrated with an existing spa installation.
This means the original electric heating does not necessarily have to be completely removed.
The heat pump can handle the majority of the efficient temperature control, while the existing electric heater can remain available as an additional heat source depending on the installation.
The electrical integration must be carried out according to the installation instructions.
Suitable for different types of spas
The 5 kW O'Spa can be applied to various wellness installations, such as:
- Fixed acrylic spas
- Hot tubs
- Scandinavian baths
- Wellness baths
- Spas with external heat pump connection
- Spas with existing electric heating
Always check in advance whether the spa in question is suitable for connection to an external heat pump.
Why choose 5 kW instead of 3 kW?
The 3 kW and 5 kW versions work on the same principle, but the 5 kW version has significantly more heating capacity.
That extra power is especially attractive if you have a larger spa, want the spa to heat up faster, or want to use the heat pump during cooler periods as well.
For a compact spa, 3 kW may be sufficient. However, for a spa of approximately 500 to 700 liters, 5 kW can be attractive when faster heating and extra power reserve are desired.
The ultimate power required depends on water volume, insulation, desired temperature, and usage conditions.
Powerful solution for comfortable spa use
The Poolex Spawer O'Spa Spa Heat Pump 5 kW + Cooling Function is a versatile solution for those who want to heat their spa more efficiently while also having the option to actively cool the water.
With up to approximately 5.06 kW of heating capacity, a COP of up to 5.3, WiFi control, a titanium heat exchanger, and an active cooling function, the 5 kW version offers a great combination of power, comfort, and energy efficiency.
Especially for medium-sized and larger spas or when you want more heating reserve than the 3 kW model, the O'Spa 5 kW is an attractive choice for comfortable use throughout almost the entire season.
