With a maximum flow rate of 6.5 m³/h, or approximately 6,500 liters per hour, the HDPE-400 is a great intermediate size for pools where a smaller 350 mm sand filter does not provide sufficient capacity.

For optimal operation, it is important to choose a pool pump whose actual flow rate matches the capacity of the sand filter.

400 mm filter tank for a larger filter surface area

The HDPE-400 has a filter tank with a diameter of 400 mm. The larger filter surface area ensures that more filter medium is available to capture dirt from the pool water.

This offers various advantages. More dirt can be retained before a backwash becomes necessary, and the water can be effectively distributed through the filter bed.

The HDPE-400 is therefore an interesting choice when you want a compact installation but at the same time are looking for sufficient filtering capacity for daily use.

Compact Top Mount design

With this sand filter, the 6-way valve is located on top of the filter tank. This is what we call a Top Mount version.

The great advantage is that the sand filter takes up relatively little floor space. With a Side Mount version, the valve is next to the tank, which means more space is needed beside the sand filter.

This makes the W’eau HDPE-400 particularly suitable for placement in, for example, a technical room, technical box, garden shed, or compact pool installation.

Multifunctional 6-way valve

The integrated 6-way valve makes operating and maintaining the sand filter simple. With one lever, you select the desired function of the filter system.

The most important settings are Filter, Backwash, Rinse, Waste, Circulate and Closed. During normal use, the valve is set to Filter. To clean the filter medium, you use Backwash, after which you briefly rinse with Rinse. With Waste, you can send water directly to the drain, and Circulate lets the water circulate without passing it through the filter bed.

Important: always switch the pool pump off completely before changing the setting of the 6-way valve.

Easy cleaning with Backwash

Over time, more and more dirt collects in the filter medium. This increases the resistance in the filter tank, which can reduce flow.

With the Backwash function, you do not need to open the filter tank every time. The water flow is temporarily reversed, causing accumulated dirt to be loosened from the filter bed and discharged via the drain.

Afterwards, you use the Rinse function briefly to reposition the filter medium properly. Then, set the valve back to Filter and normal filtration can be resumed.

Suitable for filter sand and filter glass

The W’eau HDPE-400 can be filled with traditional filter sand or with suitable filter glass.

Filter sand is the traditional and economical choice for a sand filter. Filter glass is a popular alternative and, depending on the product chosen, can offer finer filtration and a longer service life.

Always use the correct grain size and amount of filter medium prescribed for the filter tank. An incorrect amount or grain size can negatively affect the performance of the sand filter.

Strong HDPE filter tank

The filter tank is manufactured from HDPE, or high-density polyethylene. This strong plastic is particularly suitable for use around swimming pools.

Unlike metal filter tanks, HDPE cannot rust. This is an important advantage in an environment where the material is constantly exposed to moisture and pool water.

The robust construction makes the HDPE-400 suitable for long-term use throughout the swimming season.
